The Telecom Italia Archives
The Telecom Italia Foundation's mission includes making the most of the Telecom Italia Archive. Comprised of material from the SIP and STET companies, the Telecom Italia Archive is one of Italy’s – and indeed Europe's – largest corporate archives, incorporating documentation from companies that have played a key role in economic and industrial history. The archive, which has been running in its present form for around 20 years, is currently located in Turin. The Archive is a unique long-term resource that embraces every important aspect of Italy's historical path to modernity. The history of Italy's telecommunications (and, particularly, how the telephone network was built) combines economic issues, technology, politics and social change, and maps the way that people's interpersonal and business relations have altered with the advent of new technology. |
